Subsidized Programs

Subsidized Child Care Programs, also known as Alternative Payment (AP) Programs, include General AP, CalWORKs Stage 1, CalWORKs Stage 2, and CalWORKs Stage 3 programs. These programs help eligible parents cover their child care costs while they are working, attending vocational training, or in another approved activity. AP programs are parental choice programs. This means that parents enrolled in these programs can select a provider of their choice, and as long as their chosen provider meets some basic requirements, the subsidized programs can cover all or part of their child care costs.

In Los Angeles County, AP programs are administered by 13 agencies. Each of these agencies has a designated service area and provides services to eligible families living or receiving child care within their specific geographic area.
