Gateways to Early Educators

CCALA is committed to the growth and development of the child care workforce in Los Angeles County. Currently, CCALA member agencies work with over 30,000 licensed and unlicensed child care providers throughout Los Angeles County and provide over 2,000 training workshops on annual basis. CCALA is in the process of designing a comprehensive workforce development plan, the Gateways to Early Educators, which would include:

  • Individualized Coaching and Technical Assistance services
  • Recruitment of new providers to the workforce
  • Links to higher education
  • Provide inclusive educational and training pathways
  • Provide individual and group support systems to include all providers at all levels
  • Set uniform high standards for all member agencies
  • Provide a training and workforce development system that is seamless for participants
  • Create a CCALA Certificate of Completion after 40 hours of training
  • Coaching and Technical Assistance at providers’ sites
  • County-wide system for tracking professional development activities

The goal is to improve outcomes for children by enhancing the workforce through working with providers at all levels and offer professional development opportunities appropriate to providers’ educational background and experience.
