What is child care resource and referral?

There are ten agencies in Los Angeles County that provide Resource and Referral (R&R) Services, including FREE child care referrals to families, FREE trainings, and FREE referrals to community resources. Each agency has trained staff available to answer your child care questions.

Three things to look for in a quality child care setting:

  • Do the children seem happy and involved?
  • Is the space clean, warm, and inviting?
  • Is there a variety of toys, books, and materials for your child to play with and explore?

Five things to consider when choosing a child care provider:

  • How does the provider interact with the children?
  • Does the provider welcome your visits, participation, and input?
  • How does the provider include children with special needs?

  • What is the provider’s level of training and experience?
  • Can the provider give professional references?
